General information
Mr. Andrews started to build the Titanic in 1909 and finished in 1911. It sank on April 15, of 1912. In the ship there were around 2,200 people, among which, approximately 1,700 died, and 500 survived. The Titanic took 2 hours to sink. The Titanic had 2 twin ships, the Olympic and the Britanic. The Titanic was from the White Star Line, which was a British cruise line. The Titanic was the longest steam ship in the history measuring 18 meters high and 882.5 feet long. Its top speed was 21 knots. Its weight was 46,328 tones and had 9 decks. One of the biggest ships today is called the Voyager of the Seas and its weight is 160,000 tons. Just compare it with the Titanic! The Titanic`s captain was Edward John Smith also known as E.J Smith. The Titanic’s trip was from England to New York City. The ship designer was named Mr. Andrews. The man who had the idea of making the Titanic was Mr. Bruce Ismay. The richest man that was on the Titanic was named John Jacob Astor.
Theories of the sanking
There are many theories about why the Titanic sank. One of them is that the White Star Line did the sinking on purpose for them to have more money so they sent the Olympic instead of the Titanic, but they said it was the Titanic. All of the information published in the newspaper would give them more money. Another theory is that the Titanic was very fast so when they saw the iceberg they couldn’t stop it in time. Also, the other ships told the titanic that there where many icebergs at sea but the Titanic continued with its fast speed. All people said that the Titanic was unsinkable and that was what made it sink. The Titanic didn’t have enough life boats for all the passengers, so the owners made the women and children go into the boats, and if there were boats left the richest people would go next.
